We’re only 4 days into releasing it, but my remix of LT’s stunning track Rollercoaster has been recognised as one of the Top 100 Remixes of 2024 by Teases & Dares! This is such an honour, especially given the incredible talent on this year’s list. From disco-inspired grooves to cutting-edge house, this year’s collection is a celebration of some of the finest remixes and collaborations offered by the music world.
A Remix Built on Emotional Depth
Rollercoaster, originally released by LT in 2022, tells a deeply personal story about supporting a loved one with bipolar disorder. LT’s version already took the indie music world by storm, earning placements in major Spotify editorial playlists and being heard in-store at global brands like David Jones and Oakley. For my remix, I wanted to honor the emotional core of the track while reimagining it through a disco and house lens.
The result is a remix that blends LT’s hook-driven pop brilliance with my love for dynamic, danceable grooves. I’m thrilled to see how well it has been received, and having it sit alongside some of my favourite artists on this list is truly humbling.
Incredible Company on the Top 100 List
This year’s Teases & Dares Top 100 Remix list is a dream lineup for any lover of disco, house, pop, and dance. The top spot went to none other than NINA & Ricky Wilde for their Videotheque (Project K Remix) – an absolute masterpiece that blends nostalgic synth vibes with modern production finesse.
Other highlights include Tiga & Hudson Mohawke’s Feel The Rush (Honey Dijon Remix), which brings pure house energy to the forefront, and Jamiroquai’s Canned Heat (Dimitri From Paris Remix), a groove-infused reinterpretation of a classic that still manages to feel fresh. It’s also amazing to see Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s Murder On The Dancefloor (PNAU Remix) breathing new life into a track that defined an era for so many of us.
The Power of Remix Culture
Remixes are such a unique art form – they allow producers like me to pay homage to an artist’s vision while adding our own twist. This year’s list showcases that versatility beautifully.
For example, I’ve been a longtime fan of Fred Falke, who continues to be one of the most consistent remixers in the game. His work on tracks like The Sometimes Island’s Neon Summer and Veronique Sanson’s On m’attend la-bas is breathtaking. Similarly, Initial Talk, with their retro-modern disco vibe, has delivered some stellar remixes this year, including their work on Delta Goodrem’s Hearts On The Run and Shea Coulee’s Divine.
Why This Matters
Being part of this list is more than just an accolade – it’s validation for the hours spent in the studio and the passion I pour into my music. Remixing Rollercoaster was such a rewarding project, not just because of LT’s incredible songwriting but because it allowed me to connect my disco and house influences with her heartfelt pop sensibilities.
Having this remix celebrated alongside work by legendary names like Honey Dijon, PNAU, and The Blessed Madonna, as well as emerging talents like ELSKA and The WildViolets, is a reminder of why we do what we do as producers: to create music that moves people, physically and emotionally.
What’s Next?
There’s plenty more in store for 2024. I’ll continue pushing boundaries, collaborating with amazing artists, and diving deeper into the intersection of disco, house, and pop. For now, though, I’m taking a moment to celebrate this milestone and reflect on what an incredible year it’s been for remix culture.
